Bournemouth have agreed a deal to sign former Arsenal striker Benik Afobe from Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to the club’s manager Eddie Howe.
The deal, believed to be worth in the region of £10m, will break Bournemouth’s current transfer record of £8m, which they paid to sign left-back Tyrone Mings from Ipswich Town in the summer.
Howe made the announcement following a 2-1 away win against Birmingham City in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday and the club confirmed it via their official Twitter account.
Sky Sports first revealed that the South coast side had tabled a bid for Afobe on Friday and, with the bid now accepted, Bournemouth are expecting the deal to be completed in time for Tuesday’s Premier League clash against West Ham.
