Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth fell way short of Manchester City‘s standard at the Etihad on Saturday in a 4-0 result which saw the blue half of Manchester remain flawless this season. Following the game, the Spanish manager was quoted giving high praise to the South coast club who now find themselves just clear of the relegation zone.
According to ESPN’s report, here’s what Guardiola had to say about AFC Bournemouth’s performance yesterday.
Bournemouth was until now the best team, who create more problems when they have the ball. The other teams play long balls and they want to play and our high pressing was not perfect.
Despite these positive words from Pep Guardiola, Cherries boss, Eddie Howe was left disappointed following what he felt was a match lacking quality from his men. The English boss also admitted Jack Wilshere was not up to standard and may be lacking minutes.
Meanwhile, it was a different player who caught the opposition boss’ eye. Guardiola was impressed with Bournemouth’s Joshua King.
King is a tough, tough striker and their wingers are so fast.
Howe will be hoping to put the performance behind him between now and their next Premier League game against in-form Everton.
