Howe insists in-form Wilson will not be sold in January
AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson will not be sold when the transfer window opens next month according to his manager Eddie Howe.
Wilson has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks, but BT Sport write that Howe is confident the Cherries can keep hold of their star man.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, scoring eight times and providing five assists in his 15 Premier League appearances to date.
His form saw him receive his first senior England call-up in November and the former Coventry City man scored his first international goal in the 3-0 friendly victory over the USA at Wembley Stadium.
The striker missed last week’s disappointing 4-0 defeat at home to Liverpool but is expected to return to the squad when the Cherries take on Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow.
On his striker, Howe said:
Yes, we are (confident we can keep him). At this stage we are just focusing on the matches, we have got so many games to come around the Christmas period, I am sure Callum is the same, he is focusing on his football. We are certainly not anticipating losing players in January that we don’t want to.
The Cherries currently sit 8th in the Premier League table after 16 matches and Wilson is likely to play a key role in their quest to secure a top-half finish.
