AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has spoken highly of his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Mauricio Pochettino ahead of today’s match between the two sides.
As reported by Football. London, Pochettino has been heavily linked with the Manchester United job in the last week and Howe can see his qualities as a coach.
The Argentinian has Spurs third in the Premier League table after 18 rounds of fixtures, six points behind league leaders Liverpool.
That’s despite not spending a penny in transfer fees over the summer and playing their home matches at Wembley Stadium while their new stadium is being finished.
Howe, having guided the Cherries from League two to the top half of the Premier League, is one of the favourites to replace Pochettino should he decide to move to Old Trafford.
The 41-year-old has been linked with a number of more high-profile jobs in recent years but refused to answer when asked about the potential Spurs vacancy.
However, he was willing to praise Pochettino, saying:
He’s definitely someone that I admire. Definitely someone that you look at and think has a lot of qualities that you would want in yourself as a manager. I don’t know him that well but he looks like someone who works incredibly hard, is very committed to his club, and does all the right things.
You look at the players that he’s worked with for a consistent period of time, I think they’ve all got better and are now playing at higher levels. The team because of that has benefited, so, yeah, an outstanding manager.
