AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says the club are waiting to learn the extent of the injury suffered by Nathan Ake at Old Trafford yesterday.

Somerset Live write that Ake was substituted with eight minutes of the 4-1 defeat to Manchester United remaining.

The defeat was the latest in a string of disappointing results for the Cherries, who now sit 12th in the Premier League table after a much more promising start to the season.

Ake got himself on the scoresheet with a powerful header past David De Gea in yesterday’s defeat, but Howe’s team were simply blown away by the attacking threat of United.

That followed Boxing Day’s crushing defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, and Howe must now find a solution to start putting victories on the board again.

The injury table at the Vitality Stadium is already looking overcrowded, with Simon Francis, Lewis Cook, Dan Gosling and Adam Smith all currently ruled out with knee injuries.

On Ake’s problem, Howe said:

I need to speak to Nathan and the medical team but it looked like a hamstring concern.
