AFC Bournemouth are one of several clubs being linked with a loan move for Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

The Daily Mail report that McCarthy is being tracked by the Cherries’ Premier League rivals Fulham as well as Championship sides Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion.

The 28-year-old has recently returned to full fitness following almost a year on the sidelines with a double leg fracture suffered in a challenge with then West Brom striker Salomon Rondon.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is on the lookout for a central midfielder with Lewis Cook set to miss the rest of the season with a ruptured ACL.

Yesterday, Read Bournemouth reported the Cherries’ interest in Ipswich Town playmaker Andre Dozzell.

Should McCarthy move to the Vitality Stadium until the end of the season, the club would be unable to sign any more players on loan from rival top-flight clubs this term due to Premier League rules.

The Irishman has 18 months remaining on his Goodison Park deal, having moved to Merseyside in a £13m deal in 2013.
